Here We Go Again

Baby Violet
As we arrived at the Mission Training Center on September 2, 2019 we received the news that our newest Grandchild was born. We welcome Violet Bartlett into our family as our 31st Grandchild. It is appropriate that she was born on Labor Day. We love her and all of our family very much.

Here we are standing outside the MTC (Mission Training Center) once again as we prepare to begin our 18 months of service in the California Sacramento Mission. You can see the excitement on our faces

This is the traditional picture in front of the World Map in the MTC and we are pointing to Sacramento California.
District 1

In the MTC we do our training as a District and this is our district with one of our trainers Sister Keepman. From left to right Elder and Sister Lang, Sister Bird, Sister Keepman, Sister Wybrow, Elder and Sister Bartlett, Elder and Sister Dangerfield.

Again here is our District with our other two trainers.

During our MTC training we are paired with another couple to teach and be taught by them. These are our friends Elder and Sister Franco. They are the ones we were paired with. They are serving in the Arizona Phoenix Mission.

We also had to spend 4 days in training for Mission Nurse Specialists and for Office Missionaries. This is one of our computer trainers whose name is Brother Carnie. It so happens his Grandfather Ray Carnie was in our Ward in Colorado. It is a small world.

We had a day at home to pack up before we left for our Mission so we spent some time with some of our Grandchildren. Here is Henley our Granddaughter helping us to pack. We will miss her greatly along with our other Grandchildren.

We also love it when the grandchildren dance. Even when it is silly.

Sunflowers

We are finally on the road to our Mission. We came across all of these sunflowers along I-80 that lined the freeway on both sides. We just couldn’t do it justice with a photograph.
Salt Flats

We also crossed by the Salt Flats in Utah. We were tempted to see just how fast our Traverse would go but we resisted the temptation.

Lake Tahoe We also passed by Lake Tahoe on our way. What a beautiful sight.
Donner Monument

We also visited the site where the ill fated Donner Party was stranded by snow in the Mountains. What a feeling being there where so many died.

FHE

We had our first Senior Missionary Family Home the Monday after we arrived in Sacramento. It was Elder and Sister Goodwin’s last and our first. They are seated and standing to Sister Bartlett’s left. President and Sister Hymas are standing to Elder Bartlett’s right.
Turkeys

I stepped outside our Mission Office the first day we were at the office and these turkeys were on the front lawn of the Church.
Jimboy;s Tacos

Our first taste of Jimboy’s Tacos. This is for our neighbors and friends the Blairs who lived in Sacramento. They told us we needed to have a Jimboy’s taco. We did have the shrimp taco. Yummm!

Transfers

This was our first transfer and it was quite interesting. All of the Training Missionaries line up and the New Missionaries line up and they call out their companionships so they meet them for the first time. It is a great site to see.

Temple

We finally were able to go see the Sacramento Temple. We were on our way back from the Mission Presidents Home after arranging flu shots for about 48 Missionaries.
Baby Ammon

We started this post with the announcement of our 31st Grandchild and I will end it with the announcement of our first Great Grandson Ammon Chase Flanders Jr son of Ammon and Jasmine Flanders born on October 11, 2019. We welcome him into our family. It is appropriate that a newborn child makes us Great! Just as the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ into the world also made us great. Because of Him we can return to with our families to live with our Heavenly Father. We love you all and may your life be blessed.
Love,
Elder and Sister Bartlett.

It is 2021 why is COVID still here?

Well just before the new year I started getting sick and was staying at home from the Mission Office through New Years. On the Sunday after ...
